The Center for Applied River Science at the River Institute is an organization of practicing professionals who desire to advance the science and understanding of river ecosystems. This independent group of professionals has a strong interest in developing applied research of stream ecosystems and stream restoration projects.
The ultimate test of success for river
restoration activities in Ohio is attaining the
aquatic life goals set forth in the Ohio Water
Quality Standards and the measurable
subcomponents of that process.

Mission
The Center for Applied River Science is devoted to expanding the knowledge of river and wetland ecology through science to further the protection, understanding and restoration of rivers and wetlands. The Center for Applied River Science is a non-profit organization, non-membership charitable corporation.
Guiding Doctrines
Goals
  • Provide educational opportunities and forums that advance the science of river ecosystem restoration for the private and public sector.

  • Understand and define the relationship between stable channels and biological recovery through applied science and field research.

  • Promote scientific papers exploring natural channel and ecosystem restoration.

  • Advance the profession of stream restoration and bioengineering and provide a clearinghouse of information for professional use.

  • Provide guidance for stream mitigation regulations and projects through experienced design, engineering and construction services and field research.
INVITATION FOR PROJECTS

The Center for Applied River Science at the River Institute has a standing invitation for featuring Stream Restoration projects on or through this web site. To be considered for a featured project, the Stream Restoration Project MUST have met or exceeded Water Quality Standards for the state in which it was implemented.
